Desert Sunrise XML Skin

Free Blogger / Blogspot XML skin / template! Click on the image to open a new window for a larger view. This template is fluid width and designed for 1024x768 and wider screen resolutions. It will expand in width to fit the width of your screen. This template will NOT work in "classic" Blogger mode.

This theme features an easy to edit navigation bar in the heading, 3 full columns, a built in RSS Feed and full support for drag and drop sidebar widgets to add content.

Click Image For Larger View!!

Click Desert Sunrise 3 Column Blogger XML Template to download the code. Only 12KB.

The images are already hosted via Photobucket, no need to download those separately!

IMPORTANT!

Make sure you backup or save your existing customizations like links and sidebar addons, hit counters, widget contents, etc. before deleting the old skin because they will be replaced by the new code. After installation just copy and paste your customizations back in from your original code.

Backing Up And Installing
Backing Up Your Old Template Data
Installing Your New XML Template

In some cases the template editor will ask to confirm the deletion of some of the widgets / page element sections. This will happen when you have widgets installed that are not included in this theme. This theme includes a bare minimum of widget elements. You should make backup copies of the contents of those widgets before deleting or you will lose the data! Once the theme is installed, you can reinstall your widget elements and complete the customization.

Your blogs title will automatically replace the title you see in the header. The description or tagline will display in the header panel, edit it in your blogs "Settings" area.

i'm using a bunch of your templates. they are soooo good! and i'm so thankful for your gift with webdesign. the templates you give us to use make a huge difference in how others view our blogs.

(i forget which part to take out to show the navigation bar. they always look better without the navigation frame, but i keep half a dozen blogs so i look for the dashboard in it a lot.)

Thank you Anni! Your comment is much appreciated.

To remove the nav bar on xml templates, I have a write up about that here:

I took your desert sunrise skin and altered it a bit. This is my first attempt at doing anything like this so having your design was great.

I am having a problem with the navigation tabs. I want one to link to my email address, but it keeps inserting my blog address before the email address.

Your help would be sooo appreciated!

Blue Momma, I looked at your email link and you have to put the mailto: in front of the link. The url would be

mailto:bluemomma2u@gmail.com

I found a similar layout at www.myyakup.blogspot.com with someone else's name in the Credit line (at the bottom).

Allan, thanks for the heads up. You're absolutely right. It's nice to know that people like it enough to "steal" the credits though. LOL I went over and left them a comment.

Beautiful skin! The fluid width 3 column one was something I really really wanted. Thanks so much for freely sharing something so perfect! I've made some small changes to my taste.

Any chance of seeing something similar in lighter colors (anything but pink) in the future?

Needed a bit of help and forgot to ask before. I want the post tags to show up as in this blog : http://www.rplayground.com/ (scroll down, left column under the heading R Tags)

Any ideas? Is it possible?

Thanks in advance.

abookworm - What you're asking about is called a tag cloud and it's not a feature that's a part of Blogger. There are several different listings for sites that show you how to put them on your blog using their software. Do a Google search for tag cloud. =)

so that's what they're called! Thanks for letting me know :-)

I'd like to have the body and sidebars start a few lines lower.

Is there a way I can do that? I'm working with the desert sunrise skin which I've changed the colors on. I think most everything else is pretty much the same.

I've passed your site on to several of my friends. You are making me look smart! Thanks!

Thanks. Your suggestion worked perfectly, except I have somehow got my right column starting waaaaay down the page and can't figure out what I did.

As far as the font goes, I'm wanting to use some type of script front, something a little unusual. Any suggestions?

This is the code I think is wrong, but I don't know what I did

#sidewrapper-right {
width:22%;
margin:0;
font:150% angelina, Sans-serif;
padding:10px 12px 20px 0;
float:right;
word-wrap: break-word;
overflow: hidden;

Anonymous se7en said...

Here's your error in the sidewrapper-left section:

#sidewrapper-left {
width:22%;
float:left;
margin:14px 0 0 14px;

That second 14px (in bold) is supposed to be 0. That should fix it. =)

The brightness of all my text blog experiments variations with this template... why?

12:47 PM
Anonymous se7en said...

LOL, Derek I have no idea what it is you're asking. The brightness of what? There's nothing in the blogs code that can change the brightness of your PC screen.

If you havea problem, please leave a link so I can at least SEE whats going on.

Hehe, is a browser problem. I used Camino with my Mac and the brightness of the text change with every refresh...

Other problem: how i can make invisible the blog name in the header?

thanks in advance ;)

Hi----:

I love this theme and would like to use it for my father-in-laws small bar and grill, with some tweaks.

I'm trying to take out the tree and sunset photo and add food pics, like the burgers i have on their now. But i dont want 3 burger pics just one. Is there a way to make the pics smaller in size, so as not to take up the whole header? And the restaurants name somewhere at the top?

URL:

I've been playing around with the code and am really just stumbling about, i know very little about html. But would love a few pointers.

Hi...how do I add another link to my blog?

7:45 AM
Blogger Madhava Smullen said...

Thanks a lot, this is a fantastic template! The only problem is, I have no idea how to make the navigation links at the top actually go somewhere. I know how to add weblinks into the html, but I don't know what weblinks to add, if you know what I mean. I basically want to have the navigation links at the top lead to some things that blogger already has, like About Me, List, and Links. And also some things that would be sections on their own. How do I do this?

Thanks again.

I have been using your Desert Sunrise template for several months and really love it. But very recently vertical and horizontal lines have appeared in the header where the sunrise appears. How do I get ride of these lines? I notice they have appeared on your website too.
Looking forward to seeing any new templates in the future.
My blog site is: http://discovering-asia.blogspot.com

Dawn - I don't see any lines on your site or or anywhere else. It sounds to me like you're having trouble with your PC. The template is fine.

Blogger Dawn said...

se7en, this is weird as I can still see them. It's only on the sunrise colour on the template and remains on this part of the template. I also see it in the exact same place on other blog sites with the same template and if I view the template from a different PC. I have downloaded the template again and replaced it but it still remains. If you can't see it then it's hard for you to help. I may have to change to another template.Thanks for your help anyway.

Hi Se7en,

First of all, thank you so much for all the wonderful templates. This one, for now, is our favourite.

I would like to replace the tree photo with one of my dogs, and am hoping if you could tell me which part of the template I should edit, and what dimensions would be best?

Thank you so much in advance, and thanks again for your templates.

Can someone please help me to understand how I can get the link options at the top of this skin to work? I am using this on a new blogger page and everything else is working great, but I don't know what to do with the "About Me," and "another link" options...? I am very new to blogger and don't know what I should do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This skin rocks!

However I have hit a problem installing it. I am trying to put the widgets in the outer wrappers and it works for the left wrapper. Unfortunately, when I want to place widgets on the right wrapper, it encounters an error. Below is the html code:

(div id='sidewrapper-right')
(b:section class='sidebar-right' id='sidebar-right' preferred='yes'/)
(b:widget id='LinkList2' locked='false' title='Linkage' type='LinkList'/)
(b:widget id='LinkList1' locked='false' title='Friends' type='LinkList'/)
(/b:section)

(/div)(!-- end sidebar-right --)

The error I get is "Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly.
XML error message: The element type "div" must be terminated by the matching end-tag" Bare in mind that I used your original code and just added in the widgets. Change the () to <>.
