Great new blogger template! Why is the footer-wrapper not the same width as the header-wrapper, though?

Blogger se7en said...

Emmanuel, I just looked at that and there's a small error on my part. Just set the width in the #footer section of the CSS to 936px instead of the 980px it is now and that will fix it.

I've updated the downloadable zip file for that template to reflect the change.

Thanks for pointing that out!

If I install this will I be able to use New Blogger's built in colour/font editing tools? I like the design and layout I'd just like to tone down the colours a bit.

You can adjust most of the font colors with the new tools, but the background color and the blue color in the heading and sidebars has to be edited in the style sheet section. It's very easy to do though.

I did manage to edit the colours in the background, header and sidebars, and the main content area. However, I couldn't manage to change the text colour in the body via the code or the blogger tools...Can you point me to where in the code I should be looking?

Thanks!

Look for this section near the top:

body {
background:#c3d9ff;
margin:0;
color:#333;
font:x-small Arial, Georgia, Serif;
font-size/* */:/**/small;
font-size: /**/small;
text-align: center;
}

The bold font is the main body text color and the sidebars have a different font color set:

color:#FFF;

Those are the numbers you want to look for.

I'm loving this template...thank you for making it free! I think I moved fairly successfully, but one problem:

My blog header contained a photo, but I can't seem to move it back into the new template. It does move into the bottom element easily (I have it there for now). Is there a way around this (in Kindergarten-level cyber lingo)?

My site's at http://supersnark.blogspot.com in case you need to see...

THANKS!

Thanks so much for the guidance! I'll have to find someone who knows how to do that (I am a complete idiot).

Everything else is working! :-)

I like this template because it is so versatile. But I have a problem. I can't access widgets for the right menu. And I can't figure out how to do it in html! ACK!! So all that remains is "Miscellaneous" and I can't change it or add to it. Can you help?

Thanks for offering great free skins, too.

Wow, se7en, you are amazing! Not only do you make cool templates, you offer help to poor waifs like me!!!

I did as you said (refreshed the Edit page) and still did not see widgets on the right.. BUT then I decided to just try adding a widget in the footer, and dragging it to the right side, just to see what would happen. The screen shifted all the way over to the right, and there were the right sidebar widgets! I could not longer see the left side widgets-- but if I do the same thing (create a widget and drag it there) it will show up. It is just a funky thing with Blogger, looks like.

Thanks so much for everything. :)

This is a great layout. Thanks so much.

Question: Some of my posts can get rather long and I want be able to break it up and redirect readers to just that post. I've tried
this at blogger help. But all I got were errors. And, they say to put the class within the style tags, but there aren't any, so I created some, but it didn't seem to liek that either. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Eve - I took a look at what you're trying to do and I'm not sure why it's not working. I've never tried it myself though. Just make sure you're using the instructions they're giving you for the layouts version.

To start with, I am an HTML moron. I really know next to nothing. I managed to sucessfully upload your 3 column blue, and I want to change the colors of the background, sidebars, header and footer-I was able to find the background color, but couldn't find the sidebar, header or footer in the code. I searched all of your sites first to make sure there wasn't an easily found tutorial so I didn't have to bother you-but I didn't see one. Please pardon my total ignorance and take pity on me!

I need the same assistance that Jen needed with changing the other background colors and the font on the side bars.

Thanks. :)

I'm getting ready to use this template but I have one question. How do I add an underline to the links? Thanks!

8:50 AM
Blogger se7en said...

Joanne, any links in the main center column are colored blue to make them standout from the text. If you want them underlined, look for this section near the top in the Edit HTML page:

#main-wrapper a:link {
color:#66f;
text-decoration:none;
}
#main-wrapper a:visited {
color:#66f;
text-decoration:none;
}

And change the words "none" in bold to "underline" instead without the quotes, then save the changes.

That should do it.
